From July 5th to 6th, 2024, the Management Board of the WTO Chair Program at Foreign Trade University (WCP-FTU) hosted a short-term training course on \u201cNon-Trade Issues in International Trade<\/strong>\u201d at the University of Economics \u2013 The University of Da Nang.<\/p>\n

The course attracted participants from various departments and agencies in Da Nang City and several Central Vietnam provinces, as well as lecturers specializing in economics, law, and environmental studies from local universities in Da Nang.<\/p>\n

The opening ceremony was graced by Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Thi Thu Huong, Vice-Dean of the School of Economics and International Business, WTO Chair Holder; Associate Professor Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice-Rector of the University of Economics \u2013 The University of Da Nang; members of the WCP-FTU; and all course participants.<\/p>\n

Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Thi Thu Huong, in her opening remarks, expressed gratitude to the University of Economics \u2013 The University of Da Nang, for supporting the WCP-FTU in organizing this course. She hoped the training would equip participants with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of trade and non-trade issues from both micro and macro perspectives, and explore the relationship between trade and non-trade issues in the evolving context of international trade.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the University of Economics \u2013 The University of Da Nang, Associate Professor Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh extended sincere thanks to the WCP-FTU for designing and hosting the course in Da Nang. He highlighted the course as an excellent opportunity for representatives of various departments and university lecturers in relevant fields to engage with top experts on non-trade issues and their impact on global trade, economy, and investment, including within Vietnam. He also emphasized the University\u2019s readiness to collaborate with Foreign Trade University and the WCP-FTU in enhancing capacity for government agencies, universities, and other organizations on international trade and non-trade issues.<\/p>\n

The course enabled participants to identify non-trade issues in international trade, covering specific aspects such as traditional and non-traditional security impacts on economic and trade activities, measures to address security threats to ensure economic and trade safety, and gender issues in trade.<\/p>\n

At the end of the course, participants gained not only latest knowledge and essential skills for recognizing non-trade issues but also the opportunity to directly discuss and exchange views with experts on practical related issues.<\/p>\n
