Within the framework of the WTO Chair Program Phase III (WCP)-FTU project, on Friday afternoon, November 4, 2022 at Hall D201, Foreign Trade University held a signing ceremony of cooperation agreement between the Foreign Trade University and Vietnam Delegation next to the United Nations, World Trade Organization and other international organizations in Geneva. The cooperation agreement is an important basis for the cooperation between Foreign Trade University and the Vietnamese Delegation next to the United Nations, World Trade Organization and other international organizations in Geneva to carry out activities and future actions to realize the Partnership Agreement, including a commitment to collaborate on the design and teaching of new courses (new short courses for policymakers, faculty and courses for students, employers, etc.); support related research projects; committed to promoting and supporting events such as (1) placing the link and logo of the WTO Chairs Program on the website of the Vietnamese delegation to the UN and WTO in Geneva, (2) supporting the International Trade Forum Vietnam (VIT) organized by FTU, (3) sending experts and/or writing articles/commentaries for seminars/conferences.
Attending the ceremony, on the side of Foreign Trade University, there were the presence of Assoc. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan – Principal; Assoc. Dr. Pham Thu Huong – Vice Rector, Head of the Steering Committee for the WTO Chair Program at FTU; Assoc. Since joining the WTO in January 2007, Vietnam’s international economic integration process has achieved many positive results in expanding trade and investment relations with members. Vietnam has signed many free trade agreements, including new generation free trade agreements with important commitments on trade and investment. Vietnam is a typical successful example of opening up, liberalizing trade and investment, contributing to socio-economic development. However, in the face of recent international trade and investment challenges, Vietnam, a developing country with high openness, has been significantly impacted. This has placed higher requirements on research, policy making and training, capacity building of staff including policy makers and international trade and investment policy enforcers. , as well as requires the connection between government agencies, research and training institutions, people and businesses.
On this basis, right after the signing ceremony, Foreign Trade University continued to organize an international workshop with the theme: “Strengthening governments, universities and businesses cooperation in the implementation of international commitments on trade and investment” with the aim of create a forum for experts and guests to exchange and discuss related topics. The conference is organized in the form of face-to-face combined with online, creating a forum for experts and guests to exchange and discuss topics related to the process of international economic integration of Vietnam. Vietnam and the positive results achieved in expanding trade and investment relations with its members.
