In recent years, Son La province has affirmed its position as a renowned tourist destination, thanks to its favorable natural conditions and temperate climate. It has also emerged as a key hub for agricultural production and processing in the midland and northern mountainous region of Vietnam. In 2024 alone, Son La attracted nearly 4.9 million visitors, generating an estimated revenue of VND 5,800 billion. In agriculture, the province boasts over 54,000 hectares of industrial crops, 120,000 hectares of food crops, and more than 71,000 hectares of fruit trees — with a total output of around 2.2 million tons, and an export turnover of nearly USD 190 million. These impressive figures indicate that Son La is on the right path toward sustainable socio-economic development.
To further promote the province’s strengths, the WTO Chair Programme Phase III (WCP) – Foreign Trade University, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Son La Province, is organizing the forum “International Trade in the Era of Transformation: Sustainable Tourism and Export Potential of Son La’s Agricultural Products.” The forum aims to provide businesses with practical solutions and models for sustainable tourism development, contributing to positioning Son La as a leading destination both domestically and internationally. The forum also updates participants on market trends, trade policies, and international trade agreements that directly impact agricultural exports, thereby fostering tourism development in alignment with international trade and enhancing the global competitiveness of Son La’s agricultural products.
