The WTO Chair program was launched in 2010 by the Secretariat of the World Trade Organization (WTO) with the aim of improving knowledge and understanding of the world trading system among experts, scholars and policy-makers in developing countries. According to the announcement on November 15, 2021 of the World Trade Organization (WTO), after a rigorous evaluation process, Foreign Trade University (FTU) has officially become one of 17 educational institutions recognized by the World Trade Organization (WTO) selected from 126 educational institutions in 54 countries around the world, becoming the only Vietnamese educational institution selected to participate in the WTO Chairs Program (WCP) phase 3 from 2022 to 2026. Foreign Trade University will implement activities in the program with 3 main pillars: research activities, curriculum activities, and outreach activities to the community with direct support from the WTO and the cooperation of partners representing stakeholders such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade, VCCI, industry associations and businesses.
In order to create a space to connect and share between experts, scholars, managers, businesses, lecturers, students and other interested parties, while promoting training, research and development activities, knowledge transfer in international trade, on the afternoon of January 9, 2023 (Monday), Foreign Trade University will hold a ceremony to launch the website of the FTU WTO Chair Program: https://wcp.ftu.edu. vn/en. The website will become an official communication channel to update event information about the WTO Chair Program at Foreign Trade University, contributing to bringing the Program’s activities closer to interested organizations, individuals, domestic and foreign businesses.
An international conference will take place within the framework of this ceremony with the theme “Technological advancement and the new context for international trade and investment”, in which some key contents such as the role of technological progress, digital transformation, development of the digital economy and the influence of this trend on international trade and investment will be shared and discussed by domestic and international experts.
