On May 3, 2024, the Management Board of the WTO Chair Program at Foreign Trade University (FTU-WCP) held a meeting to review the series of activities of the Program in 2024. Attending the meeting were Presence of Associate Professor, Dr. Trinh Thi Thu Huong – Program Director; Dr. Vu Kim Ngan – Deputy Program Director; Dr. Hoang Ngoc Thuan – Vice head of Management board, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha – Director of the Institute for Creative Research, Head of the Curriculum Development Subcommittee, Dr. Pham Thi Cam Anh – Head of the Research Subcommittee, Associate Professor. Dr. Nguyen Thi Binh – Head of the Outreach Subcommittee and lecturers who are members of the Program.
Speaking about the purpose of the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Trinh Thi Thu Huong reiterated the goal of the FTU-WCP program “Strengthening cooperation between industry actors, academic organizations and government in implementing Vietnam’s commitments in the WTO and other New generation FTA”. Associate Professor, Dr. Trinh Thi Thu Huong also affirmed that the third year of the program needs to continue the success of the previous two years, and at the same time have activities that bring more practical value to the subjects. According to the plan, in 2024, the Program will organize 10 activities on training, research and community outreach.
These activities include:
- Seminar with the topic “Access to finance, including of trade finance” held on February 23, 2024 at Foreign Trade University
- The training course “Research Methods in International Trade for young lecturers” in Hanoi opens on May 14, 2024
- Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony with Vietnam Steel Association in June 2024
- Business consultation seminar on trade remedies in June 2024
- Discussion session to collect opinions for the course outline “Digital Commerce” in June 2024
- Short-term course on “Selected non-trade issues” held in Da Nang in July 2024
- Event Meeting with Chairs of WTO Chair programs in Asia held in Hanoi in October 2024
- International conference with the topic “Rethinking international trade in response to emerging challenges” held at Foreign Trade University in October 2024
- Industry consultation seminar in Ca Mau in November 2024
- Seminar on Trade and Gender in December 2024
Also at the meeting, Associate Professor, PhD. Trinh Thi Thu Huong also approved work assignments for members in charge of activities in 2024.
The activities in 2024 promise to bring significant values to the Program’s subjects, continuing the success of the past two years.
